Anchorites Of The 21st Century

Anchorites of the 21st Century is the second release from Conny Plankton in the last month of 2020, this strangest of years. Themes revolve around the use of the Behringer TD3 Bassline, connected through various patchings to a range of assorted modular and semi modular devices. The title of Anchorites refers to the monks and nuns of the 12th century - voluntarily locked away top achieve a higher ecstatic and spiritual experience - often being driven mad in the process. Now, in the 21st Century an enforced lockdown from Covid-19 sees a reversal of the situation - although mental disintegration remains a common consequence.

All graphics for the title and seaprate tracks are made from the series of photographs used for the album, Dark Corona, and edited through the Iphone App, Hyperspektiv.

Dark Corona

Impossible really to think that December 2020 sees the release of two full albums worth of recordings from Conny Plankton. Both albums have the major theme of the use of the Behringer TD3 Bassline as a central device. This first series of recordings focusses on using the TD3 with a series of processors and connected to other devices via midi. Enjoy Folks!

Booyakasha!

A new series of recordings by Conny Plankton for October 2020: Alien Beats, obsessive loops, dangerous frequencies, drones and atonal intensity. The loose theme behind the recordings was based around a trilogy of Bass, Beats, and lead instruments - though this structure soon mutated into something else entirely!

The Box

A new series of recordings from the deranged brain of Conny Plankton - this time celebrating and exploring the arrival of the Roland MC505 Groovebox. Communion

...being the third video in this Lockdown theme series by Conny Plankton.

The use of the title Communion can be explained as:

Definition of communion. 1 : an act or instance of sharing.

What we have in this video is a montage of images, largely produced by Conny Plankton with a view choice additions from the innermost recesses of the Plankton Brain. The audio is the track, Not Really, taken from the Conny Plankton album, Crave 2: Life in Lockdown, which can be found over at connyplankton.bandcamp.com

Enjoy!

Return to Eternity

What we got here is a remix of the earlier video project by Conny Plankton, "Into Eternity."

During the editing of Into Eternity, the project presented more than it's fair share of glitches, with numerous crashes, technical problems, and stripping out the PC's memories with trying to use some of the more advanced effects and transitions.

However, some of the footage was able to be used and edited from these glitch mixes, and some glitches and stroboscopic effects were even deliberately left in for this new mix. And of course, since the video footage got a remix makeover treatment, it seemed only right to make a new remix of the original audio track as well. So here you go folks!

Into Eternity

The Conny Plankton response to lockdown is this video based on a selection of videos produced by my wife and myself, mixed and interwoven into a Conny Plankton audio track.

The title of Into Eternity comes from William Blake and Plate 5 of his illustrated book, Jerusalem: Emanation of the Giant Albion:
"I rest not from my great task
To open the eternal Worlds,
to open the immortal Eyes of Man
Inwards into the Worlds of Thought;
Into Eternity, ever expanding
In the Bosom of God,
The Human Imagination."

Lockdown and the Fear of the Coronavirus Plague Continues. People react in many ways to the new restrictions and repressions. Some in wilful ignorance and disbelief. Some in outright rebellion. Some in their own walls of apathy and despair.

And some, by turning inward: Into Imagination. Into Eternity.

What You Crave

Now firmly in the grip of the Covid-19 lockdownn, the extra time allowed to develop this new series of recordings sees the production of an intense series of synth and noise explorations based around used of the Behringer Crave synth - used on its own, and hooked with other Behringer Synths. No plugins, external devices used this time round.

Enjoy!

Modular Minimal Springing Forth

March 2020 has been a very creative and productive time. What started out as a generic series of ideas and recordings very quickly split into distinct themes: One based on minimal explorations using a series of modular and semi modular devices, and one with  as series of more rhythmic sessions based around loops, beats, and recurring samples.

So  this time round, you get double your money, with two lots of album's worth of recordings on two different themes coming out at the same time.

To start us off, here is Modular Minimal:

Modular Minimal is a series of recordings based around interplay and interconnection with a series of modular and semi modular devices, being largely the Behringer Model D, the Behringer Neutron, the MFOS Noise Toaster and the MFOS Weird Sound Generator. Of course, as is often the case with the Conny Plankton brain, various other lops, samples and devices soon joined into the fray, evolving into this new series of atonal and ambient soundscapes you have before you. Enjoy!

Then, we have Spring Forth:
A New series of recordings based loosely around use of banks of loops, triggered through Ableton and mixed with selected other devices, such as VST synths, the Neutron and Model D synths by Behringer and the Kaossilator Plus. And a few more guest appearances as well. You may well notice some of the loops and samples also making further guest appearances on different tracks!

Big D Too

Onward, ever onward, with a new series of recordings: Continue to work primarily with the Behringer Model D synth, but now alongside a range of other synths and devices - connections made through Midi Chains and various modular connections.

Here we go again:

Big D

Here we are with the first set of releases from 2020. What we have here is a series of recordings made with the Model D Synth from Behringer. It is a very tasty piece of kit which soon got on very well with a whole host of other synths, VSTs, devices, loops and samples. Enjoy!
