The recording sessions started off life with further explorations with the Roland S1 Tweak – however, these soon evolved into working alongside mutated loops, treated samples and heavily edited field recordings. Core beats were used big time with the development of dense layers of sound and the Conny Plankton stamp of aural derangement.
Getting There by Conny PlanktonConny Planktonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09772147936375067526noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2526668843870969225.post-86756807774714049242024-02-24T08:23:00.000-08:002024-02-24T08:23:53.284-08:00Neurodivergence
A new series of recordings from Conny Plankton sees further explorations with loops, VST Synths, Field Recordings and assorted hardware devices. These sessions started life with the unifying theme of bringing the Roland S1 Tweak Synth to centre stage and having everything evolve and develop around it. However, as is often the case, other samples and synths soon demanded an equal right to be heard and a whole series of new mutated mixes developed. So here we have a series of tracks which cover a range of styles and genres, with trance and ambient, industrial and atonal, all fused together with the Conny Plankton stamp of whatever.

Here it is put through its paces – as solo ventures, and in sync and alongside different hardware devices such as the Arturia MicroFreak and Behringer Neutron Synths, the Roland MC505 Groovebox and software VST Synths such as the beloved UHE Hive. There are a whole universe of different genres, styles and approaches here. recordings of 2024 see a series of exploration with various VST and
hardware synths in sync with each other, in conflict and harmony,
working through numerous ideas and experimentations. The Final Mixes

These explorations were carried out with solo instances of Lush 2 and synced up to different VST Synths and other hardware devices. The Final Mixes see journeys into all sorts of styles, approaches and directions. Never the same way twice as someone once said!

The title of Never on Sunday came from a strange piece of flotsam found on a beach in Northumberland. This seemed based around an old theme of Never on Sunday as a happy drunk propping up a lamppost. The found object features in the title track, and the final track shows a copy of the family ornament on the same theme from my childhood. There seems to be a bit of everything here – from atonal drones and landscapes; to rhythm-based explorations; to ambient soundscapes to strange alien textures. Performers in this series of mixes include new presets with the Hive and Massive X VST Synths; new patches with the Nifty Eurorack set up; exploring the new sample libraries and settings within the Arturia Microfreak Synth; developing a series of freshly-edited loops and samples, and working with new Plug ins such as Wolfram for effects and further modulation. Each them have the common theme of being based on samples and sound bites from Magic Bullet, the experimental-electro warped brain child of Mick Magic. Magic Bullet is very much worth checking out, and can be found at:

http://www.mickmagic.net/Magic%20Bullet%20Index.htm

Each of the three original mixes have been reworked with additional samples, arrangements and new Conny Plankton artwork, so they are not just duplicates that can be found elsewhere. So now…let the Magic begin…

recordings sees the introduction of a serious piece of kit into the
Conny Plankton sonic arsenal: The Roland Rubix 4 by 4 is an audio
interface which allows 4 in or 4 out – or 4 mono or two stereo
inputs to be recorded direct to Ableton Live and each recorded input
edited separately afterwards. These means different synths and
hardware effects could be set up to record direct into Ableton. Often
synced into different VST synths, this made for an altogether
different approach to recording and mixing – especially in that

Most mixes were based on use of both the Hive and Massive X VST Synths playing simultaneously as source, with a few fleeting guest appearances from the Arturia MicroFreak synth, the Nifty Eurorack set up and the Roland MC505 Groovebox thrown in for good measure. The final mixes cover a wide variety of styles and genres – from atonal noise, to sequence based trance, to dark ambient soundscapes – and that's only the first track!

Flow by Conny Plankton
Conny Planktonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09772147936375067526noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2526668843870969225.post-64017902895563973452023-01-09T06:30:00.001-08:002023-01-09T06:30:08.917-08:00X Marks The Spot
2023 rolls in with a new series of recordings from Conny Plankton. This time round, everything is based around a loosely connecting theme of explorations with the MassiveX VST Synth from Native Instruments: So we have atonal landscapes and dark ambient textures, interwoven with ARPs and sequences, loops and samples – to take us into new and undiscovered horizons.

X Marks The Spot by Conny Plankton
Conny Planktonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09772147936375067526noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2526668843870969225.post-3576158195846777292022-12-13T03:58:00.003-08:002022-12-13T04:02:49.032-08:00Charivna Kulya
This is a slow, ethereal soundscape as a remix from

years ago of a computer-based pinball machine recorded onto cassette tape. The
recordings were digitised, cut up, arranged into loops and some converted into
Midi Files to be used as different presets for the mighty Hive VST synth. The
epic mix began to develop - chilled and ambient but with a dark atonal
undercurrent running throughout: A Heart of Darkness indeed...
Conny Planktonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09772147936375067526noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2526668843870969225.post-41549222259136507202022-12-05T10:01:00.001-08:002022-12-05T10:01:42.018-08:00Sync
As Autumn Slides into Winter, a new series of recordings from Conny Plankton does emerge: Fresh from the Chrysalis, the loosely connected theme this time round is connecting up multiple VST synths to play simultaneously – a new set up for recording, which also brought in various hardware synths and other devices to join in the melee. The results are as unpredictable as ever, as the mixes evolved under their own styles and directions. Enjoy folks!

This time round there is a lot of experimentation with midi routing and bringing in extra devices and instruments into the post-production stage. Of course, being Conny Plankton, everything is as weird, wonderful and unpredictable as always.
K by Conny PlanktonConny Planktonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09772147936375067526noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2526668843870969225.post-25933209495031660872022-10-03T03:00:00.003-07:002022-10-03T03:00:32.862-07:00First Kontakt
First Kontakt is a new series of recordings and mixes from Conny Plankton: Based around a common theme of exploring use of different synths and samples through the Kontakt series from Native Instruments, this very quickly evolved into bringing in various guest appearances from external synths, the Eurorack system, field recordings and other VST devices.
First Kontakt by Conny PlanktonConny Planktonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09772147936375067526noreply@blogger.com0
